The Corces Lab is focused on answering questions at the intersection of genetics, epigenetics, and neurodegenerative disease predisposition/resilience. We generate large-scale multi-omic datasets from primary human brain tissue and leverage these datasets to make fundamental discoveries on the roles of noncoding genetic variants in neurodegenerative disease. Within this research theme, we additionally seek to understand how one’s genetic ancestry impacts one’s disease susceptibility and how differences in ancestral background modulate the penetrance of various genetic drivers. With a firm commitment to open science, we build and maintain software tools to address unmet computational needs, particularly in the single-cell space. Ultimately, we aim to make profound impacts on prognostication and therapeutic target identification in neurodegenerative disease.
